6/10/2015 Baughurst CSW was deployed again briefly this morning (Tuesday) in Wolverton Common from 8am until heavy rain stopped play around 8:35.  During this time six speeders were recorded, of which four were travelling at 40mph or above - one at over 50.  Many others were clearly aiming to go faster than they did but braked sharply as they entered the 30 mph zone upon seeing us by the roadside.
28 September 2015

Baughurst Community Speedwatch were deployed at three locations in t...he parish last week netting 74 excessive speeders whose details have been passed to the police for further action. Further deployments are ongoing. Of the 74 speeders, 23 were driving at 40mph or above in 30mph zones, including a large tipper truck on Heath End Rd in the wet. Please ensure you drive with care and respect both the law and the safety of the many slower moving road users; pedestrians, horse riders, cyclists, runners etc. This is especially important on our narrow rural roads

7 April 2015Baughurst Community Speedwatch volunteers were out again on 2nd April on the Baughurst Road between Shaw Lane and the Wellington Arms. In just over 90 minutes during the afternoon some 34 excessive speeders were recorded including 10 travelling at 40 mph or above. This brings the total to 95 caught in the Parish since 6th February alone. The volunteers will be out again shortly, working with the Police to make our community safer.
18 March 2015  Very sad news to hear that Beryl Henry, Clerk to this Council for 22 years until 1987, died yesterday.  We send our condolences to her family.

11 February 2015 Green fingered borough residents are now able to sign up for Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s Garden Waste Service for 2016.

The service, which starts from Monday 16 February, just as gardens across the borough spring to life and keep their owners busy gardening, mowing lawns and trimming hedges, continues until mid-December.

Residents will be given a week day collection day, dependant on which area of the borough they live, along with two sacks to collect all their grass, trimmings, leaves, twigs, prunings and weeds when they sign up.

The service will continue to be charged by the number of collections left when residents join, meaning that any residents who sign up once the service has already started will only be charged for how many collections they will receive.

Everything collected in the large hard wearing green garden waste bags is composted locally to produce bags of Pro-Grow, high quality organic soil conditioner to help gardens grow. Last year over 6,000 people in the borough joined the scheme, sending an impressive1700 tonnes of garden waste for composting.

Cabinet Member for Community Services and Environment Cllr Hayley Eachus said: “Residents shouldn’t be putting their garden waste into their grey bin and the garden waste collection service offers residents a convenient and environmentally friendly way to recycle it.

“More and more households sign up every year which shows how popular the service is and by signing up residents can save trips to the household recycling centre with their garden waste.”

For more information, or to sign up, visit www.basingstoke.gov.uk/go/gardenwaste or call the council on 01256 844844
